March 30. 2010 16:39
Ok...take equal parts of apple cidar vinegar and honey. I usually use 1/4 cup of each. Mix together in a small container with a lid. As often as you want, sip a couple of teaspoons full. According to Grandee, it's the cure...and I agree. Best Wishes for a speedy recovery!!

Hi Scott (JD)!
I am all about herbal cures, doctors are kind of scary. To help cure your cold you should mix together 20 ml of pure lemon juice with 50 ml of hot hot water. mash and chop one whole clove of garlic and add a couple of pinches of cinniomon. Take three times a day.... It is nasty stuff but quit healthy, beware! good luck!
March 30. 2010 16:48

Hi Scott, in our family we have what is called Tis'a receipe - that originated with my sister. It is 1 cup of chicken broth, cayanne pepper, a few slices of fresh ginger (or powdered in a pinch), two cloves of garlic (or powdered in a pinch) -- cook on the stove to evaporate half of the fluid, cool and drink! It will BURN any virus out of you... (You might want some water near by for afterwards!!) -but seriously, it really works.
March 30. 2010 16:51
SORRY THAT WAS TIA'S RECEIPE
March 30. 2010 16:53
I just had the exact same thing 2 weeks ago. Take nasal decongestant and drink as much water as possible as water is the best expectorant that is available. After drinking 70-80 ounces of water a day my throat felt better within 4 days and my voice returned within the week. Hope this helps.
March 30. 2010 16:54
Hot and sour chinese soup...clears it up and makes you drink lots of water...
March 30. 2010 16:56
Boil some ginger root (cut in small pieces) and drink the brew while hot (careful not to burn your tongue though).
March 30. 2010 16:59

Use a nettie pot! You use this little teapot look alike and drain your sinus' add a little salt when you feel daring. It works by cleaning out the sinus' and relieving pressure and helps every time.
March 30. 2010 17:00
Hi, drink a small glass with ½ vinegar ½ water – trust me it works!!
March 30. 2010 17:08
Hot lemonade with honey. Make it just like the cold, but with hot water in a cup. The lemon has vitamin C, and the honey is a natural antihistamine. (If you're not allergic to honey.) Hope you're feeling better soon.
March 30. 2010 17:12
use a nettie pot...it will clear you right up :o)
March 30. 2010 17:19
I know it dosen't apply here but I thought this was worth reading to all your listeners.
G_d bless you and your works.
--The sad thing is that there are so few people that think about this....
(Pic of coin with members of all 4 military branches holding the American flag "Defenders of freedom")
I AM HONORED TO DO THIS
This country was based on G_d. From the very start our military has relied on him and it still shows in all the cross-shaped headstones in the military cemeteries. Prayer is still largely relied upon in military operations. The chaplains deploy with the troops everywhere they go. There is great pride in the troops and their loved ones for the works they do. In G_d we trust is the reason many choose to serve and lay there life on the line.
Let us pray...
(Pic of 9 coffins in large military cemetery. All graves marked with white crosses)
(Pic of man walking through military cemetery at dusk, grieved. All graves marked with white crosses and lit up by candles in red cups.)
(Pic of Army 2 star General praying over 5 memorials, individually, at a service on foreign soil for heroes lost to war)
(Pic of large, 50+, group of diploid Marines, heads bowed in prayer)
(Pic of young boy, 10ish, dressed in a nice suit. He is standing tall and proud as a Navel seaman presents him with THE flag at his dads or moms funeral. He is struggling with all his might to hold back the tears.)
(Pic of Honors parade at a military cemetery. 5 white horse, 4 riders, and 1 horse pulling the wagon with the casket draped with the American flag, a flight of Air Force airmen marching in formation in front and a detail of 6 airmen marching behind as they deliver the Airman to his final resting place)
(Pic of a marine blowing his trumpet in full service dress uniform)
Prayer chain for our Military...
'Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands Protect them as they protect us Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Amen.'
When you see a member of the military, on TV or in a parade or, if you're lucky enough to live near a military community having lunch at their favorite spot. Let them be a reminder to stop for a moment and say a prayer, for all our troops around the world. You need not do anything else. For of all the gifts you could give a Marine, Soldier, Sailor, Airman, & others deployed in harm's way, prayer is the very best one.
GOD BLESS YOU FOR PASSING IT ON!

I had this SAME VIRUS, emphasis on VIRUS, over the Christmas & New Year's Holidays. I am elderly and immune syst low. I used antibotics for 1st 4-5 days, then got chills & fever. I couldnt breathe & didnt want to go to ER. So I have to keep Tamiflu & antibotic on hand. W/In 4hrs. I started breathing better & feeling better. 89yrs young friend went in hosp. 6 days ago with: picky sore throat, then sinus infection, then bronchitis, horrible coughing, etc. It's not just "allergies" and I cannot tell you how many "healthy" people have had this around the country.
IF YOURE COUGHING: GERMS ARE GOING DOWN INTO LUNGS AND YOUR BODY IS TRYING TO GET RID OF THEM.
LONG TIME SINUS/COUGHING SUFFERER AND DR PRESCRIBED: 1/4 TSP BAKING SODA & 1/4 TSP SALT. PUT IT IN A PYREX CUP AND AN INCH OR SO OF NEOSPORIN IN A CUP OF HOT WATER (THE HOTTER THE BETTER-THATS' WHAT GETS RID OF THE BACTERIA IN SINUSES). I MICROWAVE ON HIGH FOR 40-50+ SEC'S/1000 WT MICROWAVE. STIR BRIEFLY TO MAKE SURE THE SALT, SODA, & ANTIBAC GEL ARE DISOLVED; THEN USE RUBBER 'EAR' SYRINGE TO FLUSH ONE NOSTRIL AT A TIME WHILE HOLDING THE OTHER CLOSED.
EVEN AFTER RUNNING POWER SETTING IN HOT SHOWER, I AM AMAZED AT DOING THIS AFTERWARD, THE MATTER AND STUFF THAT HAS BEEN TRAPPED IN SINUSES.
IT SOUNDS GROSS, AND THERE IS ALSO THE SMALL PLASTIC PITCHER USING THE SAME RECIPE AND JUST TURNING YOUR NOSE PERPENDICULAR TO THE SINK-ONE SIDE THEN THE OTHER NASAL PASSAGE.
I HAD SINUS OPERATION YRS AGO AND HAD TO DO THIS 2x/DAY FOR SEVERAL YRS. BUT IT HAS ALWAYS STOPPED MY COUGHING, COUGHING, AND NOT BEING ABLE TO SLEEP.
ALSO A VERY GOOD BRONCHIAL HELP: TRADER JOE'S LEMON-GINGER-ECHNACIA JUICE IS EXCELLENT, $3.49/64 OZ.
PINEAPPLE JUICE IS ALSO GOOD. DRINK AT LEAST 16-20 OZ. OF EITHER ONE TO KICK START THE VITA. C.
March 30. 2010 17:42
If its allergies you have you might want to try grapefruit. My husband drinks a glass of grapefuit juice or eats one every day during allergy season. It also speeds up metabolism and is great in helping to loose weight.
March 30. 2010 17:57
Gargle salt water! (2 parts water to 1 part salt)It sounds nasty but it works!
March 30. 2010 18:38
Boil a small pan of water with a cap full listerine in it. Take it off the burner and put a towel over it and your head and breath it in for about 5 minutes. when it is bad I do it 3 times a day and it really helps
March 30. 2010 18:40
HONEY AND LEMON WATER WORKS GREAT!! IT REALLY WORKS WONDER!!
March 30. 2010 23:54
mix honey, lemon water, sugar, and hot water together!
March 31. 2010 00:02
This has nothing to do with the electric bill or even how to cure your congestion, but I just had to say that Scott sounds SOOOOOOOOOOO similar to Matthew West with his allergy voice!! I want you to keep the voice, just lose the uncomfortableness!! Could you please sing a few verses of "Save A Place For Me" over the radio just for fun? Just a little challenge!! Are you going to take it on!?! I've tried getting through to KLOVE's 800 # for the last 2 hours and thought I'd try this to see if you'll take my challenge, Scott!!
March 31. 2010 00:15
Put several drops of fresh hydrogen peroxide in your ears: one at a time. (I just pour from the bottle cap.) Tilt head to assure it enters ear canal. Prepare for loud bubbling. Do this once an hour for 3 hours, then a couple of times the next day. Don't know why, but it works. Clears head dramatically.God bless and heal you ASAP,Diane in Moorpark, CA
March 31. 2010 00:31
You get allergy medication that doesn't make you sleepy, this is a trial and error thing. The other component is lots of rest and water. My sister (a singer) uses Throat Coat tea which seems to work. I'm not a tea drinker so it has to be pretty bad...DO NOT TRY AND SING if you want to talk the next day.
Hope you feel better!

Hey Scott, I get the alleries almost every Spring, I'm doing good this Spring cause the Docs have loaded me up this year. I Like the way you sound though. But it's never much fun having a bug of any sort. Good luck Guy and God Bless. Love you two every day. Keep up the good work!
March 31. 2010 00:49
Hey Scott and Kellie,
Sorry that Scott is not feeling too hot. I have been sick for six weeks, so don't complain yet. ;) I was wondering if you could play Toby Mac's new song Get Up. If you could that would be awesome! God bless! Thanks for all that you do.
P.S. Kellie, I agree with you that you do not want to eat the egg that your kids made. Their little works of art are so precious.
March 31. 2010 00:58
I saw a few people giving a close variation. I learned this years ago and enjoy it even when I'm not sick. Hot tea ( I like Green Tea), honey & lemon juice. The tea is packed with antioxidants. The honey soothes your throat and the lemon juice breaks up the mucus. I use 1 tsp of honey and 2 tsp of lemon juice. Real lemons works best. Thanks for all y'all do. Love listening to y'all.
March 31. 2010 01:33
Gargle with Childrens Benedryl, then spit it out, in the morning you will talk normally.....use the cool humidifier at night, and drink lots...up the Vit.C and zinc
March 31. 2010 01:34
Scott,So sorry you are congested, that is the worst, especially if you are trying to train for a half marathon. I am a physician and unfortunately all of the home remedies don't work. If you really want to clear quickly, you need a short burst of oral steroids. It is a prescription you would have to get from your doc. It works fast and you will feel better all over. Hope you get well soon.
March 31. 2010 01:37
I struggled with tonsillitis for years, many people would say to get your tonsils removed but my mother highly disagreed. So anytime I wake up with signs of tonsillitis or any kind of symptoms for the common flu I cut a fresh slice of garlic and suck on it. Along with taking at the least 5,000 mg of vitamin C. The garlic will kill any bacteria that is building up in your throat and the Vitamin C will boot your immune system back into gear to clean out the gunk and get you feeling back to par... Taking the garlic isn't the easiest but it works.
March 31. 2010 01:49
hey there!Im a singer in my church, i use to have congestion voice very often. My vocal teacher suggested me a homemade syrup. 1 lime(juice only) + 2 teaspoon of honey. Without water. This is high in vitamin C. It has been really helpful for me so i hope it helps=]

ScottI have had bad allergies all my life and I live and work in the Sac area. A few years ago I meet someone and she told me nettle tea and even better nettle capsules...natural type of way of treating it. I start taking them in Feb and Mar and I'm telling you...it works...today you sound like you have more of a cold...hope you get better soon.
March 31. 2010 02:40
I'm a massage therapist & during school, we took a Natural Theraputics class & we learned that white grapes &/or white grape juice will break up chest congestion. I have my kids drink the juice or eat the grapes - there's a noticable difference in 24 hours. Also, wild oregano is like an antibiotic - you can usually purchase it at a health food store. Just a few tips for you!!
Thanks for your ministry!! My family loves to listen. God bless you!!

massage the area around your orbital sockets, pressing as hard as you can tolerate. Where the nasal bone meets the orbital socket, you can feel a small indention. (If you're looking in a mirror, and consider the orbital socket like a clock, the spot will be at about 5 o'clock for the left eye, and 7 o'clock for the right eye.)That little dent is a particularly great place to massage and helps to drain the sinuses. Use the sides of your fingers, because there is less flesh than on the pads, and you can feel the indention better.
Saline nasal spray also helps the sinuses drain. Honey and tea soothe the throat. I haven't had to take antibiotics for sinus/congestion/throat problems in years!
March 31. 2010 02:55
I have also recently dealt with this illness. I gargle with a strong apple cider vinegar/water mixture then drink a strong mixture of lemon juice/honey/ceyenne pepper and hot water. This method usually works in 1 day.
March 31. 2010 03:20
Works for me every time: Garlic. I take a clove of garlic and dice it up into managabel chunks then take a glass of water put some in my mouth and swallow the whole clove (as much as I can at a time). I do this twice a day, first thing in the morning and then again at night. The cold is usually gone by the next day. I continue this regiment until the cold is gone.
March 31. 2010 19:58
Cough drops work too, something to suck on, and the eucalyptus feels good to the throat.

I work with an ENT doctor. He and I second the sinus wash for congestion. Go to the baby section at Walmart and buy a bulb syring with the long tip. You can buy a sinus teapot in the pharmacy dept.- Oprah hyped that, but it costs $20 while the baby bulb syringe costs about $3. Anyway, I use 1/2 tsp salt dissolved in one cup warm water. Get some water in the syringe, lean over the sink and gentley squirt the water up one nostril. I don't even hold the other nostril but just let it all drain out. Big returns of yellow/green goo! Sounds grose but it clears wonderfully well. Have fun!
