It was one of the toughest times I can remember. Our boys were really young…Jarod was 3 and Alec was just a baby. We were really struggling financially. It was Christmas time. We prayed a lot.

Late one night, the doorbell rang. I was kinda freaked out! Who comes to the door in the middle of the night?! When we opened the door, we heard feet slapping on the ground and a few snickers (people were running away), but no one was there. But, on the porch sat a scraggly little Christmas tree. It made the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree look fancy!

We brought it inside and I burst into tears. Attached to each scrawny limb were $20 bills, $100 bills…the tree was loaded with money.

Enough money to cover everything we needed…and enough for some small Christmas gifts.

That year, the scraggly little Christmas tree became a part of our family Christmas tradition. We put gift tags on the tree as ornaments and wrote what we were most thankful for that year.

Right now, that funny-looking tree sits proudly on my mantle at home as a constant reminder of God's faithfulness and the kindness of good friends.

It's become the most meaningful part of of family Christmas traditions!
