Christian music newcomer Andy Cherry is turning heads with his first single “Our God’s Alive.". The song, which speaks of hope and victory after heartache, has already become a favorite worship anthem for many. Working with award winning producer Jason Ingram of One Sonic Society, Andy’s debut album Nothing Left To Fear chronicles himself on a journey for true genuine faith.
“The reason I do what I do is because I want to compel people to a deeper walk with God,” he said. “Through my work in churches, I’ve witnessed people – for whatever reasons – shy away from asking hard questions. I think this hesitancy, or fear, keeps them from a closer relationship with God. Through my music, I hope to help people work around that and find the love He intends for us.”
Not long ago, Cherry was working as a worship leader in his hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina, when one day he felt like something wasn’t right. “I didn't want to be there. I thought, ‘I'm wasting my time.’ And then it just hit me. God was touching people where they were and He didn’t need me to work in their lives.” Shortly after, Andy was signed with Essential records, and his first album is set to be released on March 6, 2012.
With a sound that is reminiscent of British rock, and meaningful lyrics meant to challenge one’s faith, Andy Cherry will no doubt have a bright career ahead of him even though that is not his main goal. “If this record isn’t a success I don't think that's gonna change who I am,” he says. “It won't change what I'm passionate about, it won't change how I approach songwriting, it won't change how I approach God. It will just be the end of a really cool trip.”
Andy released his first full-length album Nothing Left To Fear back in March, and he is currently on tour across the U.S.
