About Chris and Conrad

Proving that two is definitely better than one, Chris Kuti and Conrad Johnson, better known to Christian music fans as simply Chris and Conrad, were introduced to each other in 2007 as solo artists and potential co-writers.

After penning a couple of songs together, they soon figured out they had compatible artistic sensibilities and decided to form a duo rather than pursue their respective solo careers. As it turns out, their musical instincts were right on target with the 2009 #1 Christian radio hit “Lead Me to the Cross,” written by fellow singer/songwriter Brooke Fraser.

When it comes to writing songs, inspiration often arrives at the most random moments."It was through leading worship at a number of camps this past summer, that God used the lyrics of "Lead Me to the Cross" to remind us to daily ‘rid me of myself'," says Johnson. "This is the only way for each believer to live out the purpose they've been made for. It was at that point we felt there was nothing more to be said about this struggle. We simply wanted to agree with the very prayer that is found within the song. It is a song that encourages us in our relationships with Christ each and every time we play it live and was a natural addition to the overall theme of the record."

Inspired by artists such as Jars of Clay and David Crowder, Chris and Conrad’s music is extremely thought provoking and very catchy. Their song “Let It Out” speaks about the redemption and freedom in our daily walk with Christ, “It’s a simple prayer for all of us in this walk with Christ, to be honest with who we are and that’s where we find peace, healing, and forgiveness,” said Kuti. “It’s not about trying to hide behind a mask of religion or what we hope other people would think of us to be, but knowing and realizing that God- the creator of heaven and earth- loves you more than you could ever know.”
