(HAITI) As violence and unrest continues in Haiti, basic necessities like food, water and fuel are becoming scarce.

The U.S. State Department estimates at least 1,000 Americans are stuck in Haiti.

Texas-based Lacy Eaton and her family have spent years wading through red tape to finally bring home their son, Judler, in December of 2023.

One of the most remarkable answered prayers came at the last minute.

Judler's passport had been held up by months of delays. As Lacy was vacuuming, she felt the Lord tell her to sit in his nursery and pray and simply ask for His help.

The next day, the passport was approved.

From Lacy's Facebook post:

"Haiti is a mess right now. There’s just no other way to say it. It’s absolute chaos. About a week ago the US conducted an overnight mission to evacuate the remaining staff at the embassy and shortly after it seems that all air space has been closed. One report I heard from an adoption agency said that the central authority had been ransacked, and the Ministry of Interior was set on fire. These government offices are an adopted child’s only hope of getting their paperwork processed. There’s gang activity on every corner. A plane was shot up on the tarmac - a plane that was flying the exact route we would’ve been on if we had gone all the way to Haiti to pick up Judler.

I think we were one of the last families out before this new wave of violence and chaos hit. And right now there are over 101 Haitian kids matched with families waiting to come home, but they’re stuck. The way adoptions work is confusing to say the least. But ours was finalized (like he was OURS, and had our last name) for a whole year before we were able to get him. That’s where these families are at. They’re done. They’re just stuck now. This petition is to put some pressure on the right people to be able to get some humanitarian aid to bring these kids home. I can’t imagine what these families are going through.

Judler’s biological siblings and birth mom are still there. And my heart breaks for them. We are praying for Haiti."
