When I was 16 years old, I submitted an application to give my testimony at a youth event where over 6,000 youth would be in attendance. I was going to go on stage and tell these people my biggest secret...only 3 people in the audience knew about it. I had struggled with self-mutilation and disordered eating for years, and by the grace of God was finally healed.
In the weeks leading up to giving my testimony, I was more nervous than imaginable. One night, while driving home from my dance class, I heard, "Here I Am" by Downhere on K-LOVE. That song is the only reason I didn't back out of giving my testimony. It proved to be a good thing, for after I spoke, I had youth come up to me at the event, find me on facebook, and even get my contact information through the event coordinator.
I thought giving my testimony would be more of "closure" to me and my past, but it truly opened doors by allowing me to help other youth who were dealing with the same things.
I thank God for K-LOVE, because without giving my testimony that night, my life would be completely different.
