“The Chosen” is the first multi-season series ever to be based on the life of Jesus. Starring Jonathan Roumie, the popular television show is now in its second crowd-funded season with the hope of telling the Gospel narrative across seven complete seasons.

This is the first K-LOVE Fan Award bestowed upon “The Chosen,” but fans of Christian music have been raving about the show since its inception. In fact, some of your favorite Christian artists are even fans of the series. “You have to see ‘The Chosen.’ It’s incredible!” Kari Jobe enthuses. “I’ve cried every episode.”

Not only is the show fully funded by fans, but it stands as the highest crowd-funded project of all time thanks to the generosity of more than 19,000 people who have donated $10 million to see the project come to fruition, many of them simply “paying it forward” after viewing one of the episodes. In addition, the show has been translated into 50 different languages, and counting, allowing people all over the world to watch the story of Jesus unfold in their heart language.

“I’m such a fan of this incredible series, ‘The Chosen,’” Mandisa says. “I pray it will make the life of Jesus jump off the page for you like it did for me.”

Series director Dallas Jenkins and lead actor Jonathan Roumie, who plays Jesus, were on hand at the 2021 K-LOVE Fan Awards to accept the trophy for “Film/Television Impact.” “Early in my career, I cared about awards, and I cared about financial success and—even on my faith-based films—I just really wanted to be successful. And all that went away, God took all of that away from me just in time for ‘The Chosen,’” Jenkins shares. “And all that we care about is impact and the stories that Jonathan is hearing and that I’m hearing. Every time we meet someone, it feels like they want to tell us how their life has been changed and they’ve been drawn closer to Scripture, which is all that matters.”

Ticket packages for the 2022 K-LOVE Fan Awards Weekend are now on sale. Next year’s event will take place May 27-29, 2022 in Nashville.
