Jeanice Lee talks with the Interim Executive Director of Big Sister League (BSL) of San Diego Nuria Haro-Lopez. For 80 years Big Sister League of San Diego has provided transitional and permanent housing for adult women. BSL's services are designed to assist women affected by mental health issues, homelessness, trauma, and domestic abuse. Each house can house up to 15 women at any given time. The overall goal is full independence for women and reintegration back to their normal lives. BSL requires its women residents be under the care of a psychiatrist. Support is provided however long is needed, there is no time frame. Their services are designed to provided stable housing, daily activities, to resume building, to any type of support that the women need to figure out what they need to do to bounce back from the rock bottom point they find themselves in.
