Love covers all sins

Thanks for reading through Proverbs with us!!  This morning, even though I (thankfully) slept much later than normal, the house was still very quiet when I got up.  I found my favorite Bible and curled up in a chair with Proverbs 10.  Because this New King James Bible has been my friend for many years, it has highlights, underlines, stars and circles around certain verses.  It reminded me of different times in my life when I was studying and growing and the verses were jumping off the page at me.  As much as I appreciate the convienience of reading the Bible on-line, there is something wonderful about paper and the ability to hold it and read and re-read and re-read the powerful little black words on the page.

This morning, verses 12, 19, and 29 jumped out at me and I read them over and over.  Feel free to leave comments for us about what Proverbs 10 says to you.  Hopefully you can read all the way to Proverbs 31 with us by October 31.  Feel free to check back here each day, or maybe you can find a favorite old Bible to read again.  blessings, Lisa

Proverbs 10 (New King James)

1 The proverbs of Solomon:

      A wise son makes a glad father,
      But a foolish son is the grief of his mother.
       2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing,
      But righteousness delivers from death.
       3 The LORD will not allow the righteous soul to famish,
      But He casts away the desire of the wicked.
       4 He who has a slack hand becomes poor,
      But the hand of the diligent makes rich.
       5 He who gathers in summer is a wise son;
      He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.
       6 Blessings are on the head of the righteous,
      But violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
       7 The memory of the righteous is blessed,
      But the name of the wicked will rot.
       8 The wise in heart will receive commands,
      But a prating fool will fall.
       9 He who walks with integrity walks securely,
      But he who perverts his ways will become known.
       10 He who winks with the eye causes trouble,
      But a prating fool will fall.
       11 The mouth of the righteous is a well of life,
      But violence covers the mouth of the wicked.
       12 Hatred stirs up strife,
      But love covers all sins.
       13 Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has understanding,
      But a rod is for the back of him who is devoid of understanding.
       14 Wise people store up knowledge,
      But the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.
       15 The rich man’s wealth is his strong city;
      The destruction of the poor is their poverty.
       16 The labor of the righteous leads to life,
      The wages of the wicked to sin.
       17 He who keeps instruction is in the way of life,
      But he who refuses correction goes astray.
       18 Whoever hides hatred has lying lips,
      And whoever spreads slander is a fool.
       19 In the multitude of words sin is not lacking,
      But he who restrains his lips is wise.
       20 The tongue of the righteous is choice silver;
      The heart of the wicked is worth little.
       21 The lips of the righteous feed many,
      But fools die for lack of wisdom.
       22 The blessing of the LORD makes one rich,
      And He adds no sorrow with it.
       23 To do evil is like sport to a fool,
      But a man of understanding has wisdom.
       24 The fear of the wicked will come upon him,
      And the desire of the righteous will be granted.
       25 When the whirlwind passes by, the wicked is no more,
      But the righteous has an everlasting foundation.
       26 As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes,
      So is the lazy man to those who send him.
       27 The fear of the LORD prolongs days,
      But the years of the wicked will be shortened.
       28 The hope of the righteous will be gladness,
      But the expectation of the wicked will perish.
       29 The way of the LORD is strength for the upright,
      But destruction will come to the workers of iniquity.
       30 The righteous will never be removed,
      But the wicked will not inhabit the earth.
       31 The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom,
      But the perverse tongue will be cut out.
       32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable,
      But the mouth of the wicked what is perverse.

The Adoption Song

K-LOVE listeners Ryan and Lisa Case are one of 4 families that won Mark Schultz!  K-LOVE's Home Delivery brought a personal Mark Schultz concert to their home.  Well, more specifically...their garage:)  So you could share the experience, they created a blog of the evening (with some great pictures).  Here's a letter we got from Lisa Case:

"We can't thank you enough for this amazing week.  We have talked to so many people about Jesus and so many doors have been opened because of this opportunity.  My husband and I quickly put a blog together today to try to recap this week's events and last nights wonderful concert.  With 100 people on my driveway, we thought this might be a great tool for others to begin to share their experiences from the evening.  It is hard to visualize a concert out of a garage, especially with Mark Schultz, but I think the pictures on the right side of the blog bring it to life.  Just go to MarkSchultzHomeDelivery.blogspot.com.

If you would share this with Mark and Ruth Anne White from Word, we would so appreciate it.  We just want them to know how their time and talents are continuing to change lives.

Jennifer and Julie, thank you for all of your support last night.  It was truly an added blessing to have you there.  So many of my friends have found K-Love and are beginning to understand what a fabulous ministry it is.  We thought that there would be laughs when you saw the Muppets picture embedded!

Lisa Williams, thank you for your continuous prayers.  It was God's guest list and as I watched people in my drive way sing "One Life, One Love, One Way Home" I was overwhelmed by the Holy Spirit."

One of the reasons this night was so amazing was because of Lisa Case's story of adoption.  Here's an email we got from K-LOVE's Julie Gabrisch that tells more...

"Lisa and Ryan Chase prepared their lovely home for a driveway concert. The evening was a beautiful, cool Colorado, autumn night and we had concerns that it might be just too cold for a concert outside, but Lisa and Ryan had gone out of their way to create a great backdrop for Mark to sing and Mark didn’t hesitate to rise up to the challenge. Mark was so engaging with the 75+ crowd that stood or sat in the large driveway. His songs were sung so wonderfully even though I am sure he was straining his voice for all to hear him. He teased Jennifer and I because we looked liked “the two old guys on the Muppet show who sat in the balcony making fun of the performers”, which caused us all to roar with laughter. As I am sure everyone who heard or read why Lisa won the contest, she had given her daughter up for adoption, which was an open adoption. Lisa’s beautiful 13 year old daughter Kellie was at the concert with her adopted parents-they sat in the front row. Mark graciously allowed Lisa to perform the song she wrote and composed for her daughter, while she was pregnant. It was beautiful and Lisa is quite talented. Mark then sang “Everything to me.” When he began singing, Kellie got up from her adopted mother’s lap and went and sat with Lisa. As I write this, I am getting tears in my eyes, there wasn’t a dry eye among those 75+ attendees. Even Mark was so moved that he briefly stopped playing. Mark commented a few times, “I will never forget this evening.” I know he was saying what everyone there was thinking. None of us will ever forget last night. I know that Chicago is in for another treat and that God will continue to bless Mark as he performs these intimate gatherings. Mark and Ruthanne, thank you so much for coming the Denver and showing us God’s love."

In case you've never heard of the song "Everything to Me" from Mark Schultz, here's the video with the full story...

If you are wise...

If you're reading through the Proverbs with the K-LOVE Morning Show for the month of October, and it's the first time you've ever read Proverbs, you may find some of the verses unclear or odd.  One thing that helps is praying that God reveals Himself to you as you read.  The Holy Spirit will illuminate truth and help you grasp the deeper meaning in the Proverbs.  I'm excited that we're doing this together!  The Proverbs are amazing.  Thanks for checking back here each day!  ~Lisa

Proverbs 9 (New International Version)

 1 Wisdom has built her house;
       she has hewn out its seven pillars.

 2 She has prepared her meat and mixed her wine;
       she has also set her table.

 3 She has sent out her maids, and she calls
       from the highest point of the city.

 4 "Let all who are simple come in here!"
       she says to those who lack judgment.

 5 "Come, eat my food
       and drink the wine I have mixed.

 6 Leave your simple ways and you will live;
       walk in the way of understanding.

 7 "Whoever corrects a mocker invites insult;
       whoever rebukes a wicked man incurs abuse.

 8 Do not rebuke a mocker or he will hate you;
       rebuke a wise man and he will love you.

 9 Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still;
       teach a righteous man and he will add to his learning.

 10 "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,
       and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

 11 For through me your days will be many,
       and years will be added to your life.

 12 If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you;
       if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer."

 13 The woman Folly is loud;
       she is undisciplined and without knowledge.

 14 She sits at the door of her house,
       on a seat at the highest point of the city,

 15 calling out to those who pass by,
       who go straight on their way.

 16 "Let all who are simple come in here!"
       she says to those who lack judgment.

 17 "Stolen water is sweet;
       food eaten in secret is delicious!"

 18 But little do they know that the dead are there,
       that her guests are in the depths of the grave.
