Crazy Hair Day

They say there are no such thing as bad ideas.  I don’t know about you, but I’m not sure I agree with that after this morning.

It’s Crazy Hair Day at my daughter, Emily’s school. Which means it’s crazy hair day for mama too. I spent so much time this morning on my daughter’s hair that I didn't have time for my own.

It's not exactly fun to try taking a curling iron to a 7-year-old's hair. Let alone a chile with ADHD, all the while managing 2 other little ones. And getting to work on time? Doubtful.

I got frustrated.  But, then she says: “Mom, thanks for taking the time to do my hair.”

Okay maybe it was a good idea.

Oh Rhoda!

It's one of those things that makes your jaw drop, when you find out someone you know has a terminal diagnosis.  A moment like that makes you look at your life differently. I don't know about you, but it put my worries into perspective.

It seems like we're all saying that today with the news that actress, Valerie Harper, was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.  She played Rhoda on the Mary Tyler Moore show. Well, doctors say she has 3 months.  But her attitude is amazing.

“I don’t think of dying,” she said. “I think of being here now.”

I don't know about you, but I need to think more like that. Now is really all we have.

"This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it."  -Psalm 118:24
