Live the Life you Love

Time flies.   Where did the time go?  They grow up so fast.  We all say those things this time of year.   On the last day of the year we contemplate "how far we've come", or beat ourselves up too much on how we've fallen short.

Today, as we close the book on 2012 and get a fresh new start for 2013, I want to encourage you to let yourself off the hook.  Stop dwelling on what you're not, stop doubting yourself, and second guessing yourself.

God is not counting up your sins. God is not looking back at the list of things you did in 2012 that were poor decisions.  He sees a child who he loves and who he has redeemed, by sending his own son to die for your sins and poor decisions, so you won't have to be judged for them anymore.

So don't waste that amazing gift by beating yourself up.  Let yourself off the hook.  You are God's child who He wants to live an abundant life of unmerited favor.  It's time to live the life you love!

"I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it [a]overflows)." -John 10:10 (AMP)

So start living life abundantly.  Here's how I'm going to do that.  I'm going to make a list of a few "bucket list" items, and I will commit to doing them this year!  If I do one of them it's a success!  If I do more than one, it's ABUNDANT!  The life that God has called us to.  Will you join me?  Will you turn the TV off, put aside laundry and dishes every once in a while and go on adventure?

For example, I want to take my children camping, I want to master snowboarding, and run a half marathon.

I don't want to look back on this day next year and think, "Where did the time go?"  I want to be able to say, "Wow God, look at all the things we did together this year!"  I have made the most out of this life you have given me.  Thank you for the call to life it to the full, until it overflows!

Bring it on 2013!

What's on your list?  How will you live a more abundant life in 2013?

"Rescue Me"

You might be hearing the song, "Rescue Me" a lot today, with the news of the passing of Fontella Bass. She's the singer that originally recorded the song.

When you listen to or read the lyrics of that song, it seems so old fashioned compared to some of the pop songs today. It's a woman talking about how she needs a man to rescue her, because she's lonely and blue and needs a man by her side.

Rescue me
Take me in your arms
Rescue me I want your tender charm
'Cause I'm lonely And I'm blue
I need you And your love too
Come on and rescue me

Song lyrics from female artists are so different today. Now we sing, "We are never ever getting back together" or "I'm Miss Independent."

In my opinion, that song has lasted because it taps into a feeling that we all have, deep down inside, we all want to be rescued.

We just happen to look to the wrong places to be rescued. We look to boyfriends, girlfriends, husbands, and wives, maybe even food, or drinks to rescue us, to fulfill us.  (At least I have.)

I've found the only thing that can truly rescue me, and fulfill me is having a relationship with God.

We've just been singing that song to the wrong person. Maybe we can get Mandisa to record "Rescue Me", and turn it into a worship song! :-)

Jesus said, "He that finds his life shall lose it: and he that loses his life for my sake shall find it." -Matthew 10:39
