On My Way to the DR!

Travel this time of year can be so hectic. Maybe it makes you a little apprehensive and nervous. I admit to you today, I’m nervous.

I'm leaving for a mission trip to The Domenican Republic with Operation Christmas Child. I'm so honored to be on the team that delivers the 100 millionth shoebox. It's full of gifts and necessities for children living in poverty.

Last night, I was trying to explain to my kids why I’ll be gone and miss some of their activities. It's hard for them to understand. So I took them to the store and had them pick out huge bags of candy and bubbles to give to the children I'll get to meet.  It was an exercise in self control as well because I wouldn't them have a piece!

I’m nervous to be gone from my 3 sunshines. worrying if I packed the right things, and excited for how God is going to change my heart in this process.  It would be amazing if you could pray for this trip, and that these children to truly feel the love of God. I’ll be checking in on the show while I’m God bringing you stories and posting pictures and stories here on my blog!

How To Start Your Day Right

I’ve started something new that is really making a difference, it might for you too.

First thing in the morning when the cell phone alarm wakes you up instead of checking email or Facebook to see what you missed while you were sleeping, check in with God.

It's especially important this time of year.  It's the most wonderful time, and the most stressful time.  Checking in with God first thing will help you deal with it so much better, and remind you first thing in the morning what we're really celebrating this time of year.

Here's how I do it, it might work for you as well.

When I turn my iPhone alarm off with the swipe thing, I go to one of those bible apps.  Today's verse made a ll the difference.  It's reminding me that even though there is chaos around us, we can have peace.

"For though the mountains should depart and the hills be shaken or removed, yet My love and kindness shall not depart from you, nor shall My covenant of peace and completeness be removed, says the Lord, Who has compassion on you."  Isaiah 54:10 (Amplified)
