The Favorite Child

You are God’s Favorite.

i have a friend who was praying for years to be able to conceive a child.  When she finally got the good news that she was expecting, she couldn’t wait to tell me.  What she said to me I found stunning.

She said, “I feel like I’m God’s favorite.”

She wasn’t angry that it took so long for God to answer her prayer.  She wasn’t upset that conceiving a child wasn’t easy for her, she felt like God’s favorite child. She had grown up knowing that believing in Jesus wasn’t about keeping a list of rules, it’s more like falling in love with someone who loves you back unconditionally.

Today’s K-LOVE Encouraging Word reminds me of that.

“God’s thoughts towards you are countless, they outnumber the grains of sand.”  -Psalm 139:17-18

You are not the sum of your mistakes. You are His favorite.

The hairs on your head are numbered (Luke 12:7)

He is enthralled with your beauty (Psalm 45:11)

He rejoices over you with singing.  (Zephaniah 3:17)

This gave me chills!  I have been dealing with a lot lately and on valentines day "Times" by Tenth Avenue North was played with the spoken word of God.  This just cements the feeling of complete joy knowing that my God really unconditionally loves me, and is carrying me through this process of grieving and the mistakes I have made.  I am his favorite and created me simply so he could love me!

I am just reading this now, but it was written on my birthday, the 17th. My dad was working that day and had a night meeting to go to, and then my boyfriend was working a 12+ hr shift that day as well, so I was afraid my birthday wasn't going to be spectacular. But it was. My best friend took me out, and I had a great time. This post is special to me. God's favor is special to me, b/c I'm often..hated.. in my family..I'm the only Christian in my family. Psalm 139, esp verses 17 & 18 are awesome. I've thought alot of them these past few weeks. Thanks Amanda!
