When Time Stands Still

If the news of the Marines that were killed today just stopped you in your tracks, you’re not alone.

I was on my way to work and heard the news that 7 Marines lost their lives, and 7 more injured in an explosion during a training exercise in Nevada.

I don’t know about you, but I tend to forget all the work that goes on behind the scenes of the daily routines to keep us safe. It makes me appreciate their sacrifice so much, and also want to never take for granted the time I get to spend with my family.

I don’t want to miss out on a chance to encourage my kids in the morning at breakfast, because I was too busy responding to text messages on my phone. That’s what happened this morning at my house. It won’t be like that tomorrow.

I got an idea. Before I eat my lunch today, I’m going to pray for the 7 injured marines and the families of those that lost their loved ones today. If you'd like, you could join me.

Prayers like this are like dropping a pebble in a pond, the bigger the pebble, the bigger the ripple effect.

"Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world." John 16:33
