If you're feeling worn out today, maybe a little weak - good!
Weakness, and admitting your weakness is a good place to be.
Paul said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. -2 Corinthians 12:9.
Now that doesn't make a lot of sense. We're taught to be strong, and courageous, to "fake it 'till you make it" if you will. Not give up. I had to go deeper when I read that this morning.
When I'm having a hard time understanding a verse, I like to read the Amplified version of the Bible. It's full of extra words that explain it in detail. I like details.
That version puts it like this:
"I will more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Jesus may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me."
Oh I get it now! I love the image of God building a tent for us. A place you can go for shelter, to be filled up with His strength. A place where we can dwell, together.
I imagine His tent is bug and bear free of course!
Father, I'm worn out at the end of the week, ready for rest. Pitch your tent Jesus! I'm ready to go inside for Your shelter, and be filled up with Your strength. In Jesus name, Amen!
