Raising Royalty

It’s a boy!

Duchess Kate is recovering in the hospital after having a baby boy yesterday.

If you’re a mom, you know this is the easy part.

I remember those days after my first child, Emily, was born. I was so grateful for the help of the doctors and nurses, I remember being concerned that they were going to let me go home with this infant, when I didn’t have a clue what to do with her!

You figure it out. You also realize that as they grow up, it get’s harder. I remember wishing instead of reading all those books about pregnancy, I would have read parenting books, because once that child comes the next time you can sit down to read a whole book will be happen in about 18 years!

I thought about Duchess Kate today and how she has the pressure of raising a prince, an heir to the throne in England.

Then again, we should all look at parenting that way. If you’re a parent, you’re raising heirs too.

It especially makes me think differently about raising my son. I want him to be a prince too. I want him to grow up to be an honorable man, a leader, a respecter of women.

If you're a mother of a son, what do you do to raise a prince?

If you're a son, what's the best thing your mother did for you to make you into a prince?
