Oh Lord, today I pray for a hedge of protection to be put around us at work, school, and inside our homes. As we face countless news stories of the violence in DC; protect us from getting depressed, angry, hopeless, or fearful that it might happen to us too.
While everyone tries to answer the question "why" today, help us to be the ones that show "how" to prevent this. God, show us better ways today to love and serve others.
For there is a story behind the tired woman at the grocery store, the angry person in traffic, and the slow worker at the drive through. Instead of judging, help us be compassionate. If we fill others up with love and meet their needs, maybe there will be less hate and sorrow.
For Your word says, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant. (Matthew 20:26). I want to be your servant.
In Jesus name, Amen.
