National Day of Prayer

by Ron Prentice,
Chief Exceutive Officer

Tomorrow, the first Thursday in the month of May, marks the annual National Day of Prayer. In towns and cities across the country, people will be gathering together, taking their praises and appeals to the Lord.

If you have not yet made plans to participate in a community time of prayer, you may find events near you by clicking here.
Thousands of prayer events will take place, in front of city halls, in churches, and at places of business. Events are planned from pre-dawn, throughout the day, and into the evening.

“Prayer is the greatest of all forces, because it honors God and brings him into active aid.”
E.M. Bounds

“The prayer power has never been tried to its full capacity. If we want to see mighty wonders of divine power and grace wrought in the place of weakness, failure and disappointment, let us answer God’s standing challenge, “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not!’”
J. Hudson Taylor

“Intercession is truly universal work for the Christian. No place is closed to intercessory prayer. No continent – no nation – no organization – no city – no office. There is no power on earth that can keep intercession out.”
Richard Halverson

Tomorrow, as you join with others to give thanks and lift requests to God, listen to the “concert” of prayer that is taking place in your midst.
It is a divine orchestra and it is music to the ears of God.

No other activity is as powerful to change society than united prayer to Almighty God.

Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. Mark 11:23-25

GOD created us and wants to be personal with us.  Let's let HIM know that we are expecting HIM to hear us and know that we are all in one accord depending on only HIM, with praise and honor.  To GOD be the glory.

I just want to share a testimony with you in regards to tithing and what it has meant to me, personally.  I've been a Christian for about two years now.  At first, giving was difficult.  Ten percent is so much when you look at the total...and our household has to rely on the generosity of my family to make ends meet each month.  I am unemployed (looking for work) and my husband only works part time for not much by today's standards.  But, we have tithed faithfully with the first amount we receive, even with what we receive cash assistance from family.

Most often, the following scripture is quoted regarding tithing:

MAL 3:10 "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this," says the LORD of hosts, "if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.

But, I believe, especially now, that the most important verse is the next verse:

MAL 3:11 "Then I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of the ground; nor will your vine in the field cast its grapes," says the LORD of hosts.

This verse is so much more important!  That He keep us close to Him!!!  More than money or worldly posesions ever could be.

Today, through the Holy Spirit, the Lord Jesus told me of a daily activity that was poisoning my spirit and hindering my spiritual growth.  Although giving up Facebook did not seem easy to do at first, when compared to distancing myself for His glorious presence in my daily life, it's a no-brainer!

God is faithful to keep His promises!  I love Jesus more every day for the love that He shows me in the most intimate ways!

Thank you for what you do.  Thank you for the platform for testimony!
