There is a woman I work with at Ole Miss (Mississippi) who has been taking a tap class.  This week was her last week and her instructor came up to her (after 1 1/2 months of class) and said, "Heather, now what is your last name" and Heather told her "Outlaw".  The instruction said, "Are you sure, I thought you just made that up!"  Heather told her, "Who would make that name up for a last name?!"  Go figure!!  Ain't God Good!!

I heard this song on the way to work this morning. I have been getting so stressed and emotional at work lately. This week especially has been very tough. I reached my breaking point, and just cried.
When I heard Jimmy Needham's story and song, I felt like if he could overcome his struggles, then I could overcome mine. All I need to do is know that God can take all of my troubles. . .all I need to do is ask and pray for his guidance.  Thank you for your inspiration.

Ok, I didn't receive this surname at birth, I voluntarily took it...GROSS!  I am almost 48 and you should hear the jokes!!  We just turn it around.  Someone says, eww, Gross!  I respond, I am Gross, that is nasty!!! I have been "Gross" 19 years and wouldn't change a thing!!!

I have had the same kind of week at work. Been a very rough week and I too have been emotional and after taking all I could take I just broke down. I hope things improve for me as I am praying this will improve for me as well.

I have a friend who accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior - it has now been a year. She is still struggling with her addictions - it hurts me because I feel this is hindering her walk. When I heard Jimmy saying his testimony it made realize so many Christians are struggling with this weight but as he said anything is possible with Christ! I would love for her to hear this because God touches our spirit in ways we never imagined. Thank you.

I just listened to Jimmy Needham's testimony about his addiction.  Pornography addiction destroyed my marriage.  Now the father of my children is in prison because this addiction took him deeper and deeper. They have not had the chance to see him in over 2 years and it will be another 3 year before he is released.  It is a heartbreaking situation.
I prayers go to Jimmy that he may continue to be free of this addiction.

Thank you, Jimmy for sharing your story. That has to be a difficult thing to share with such a wide audience. Even though you know you're among Christians who are supposed to love you and not judge you, I'm sure that you have to overcome the feelings of being an inadequate Christian. I have a son that will be in the 4th Grade next year. I have always been diligent about making sure that he, his twin sister and older sister (12) do not grow up too early. I make a big separation between Elementary school and Middle school. After hearing your story, I'm glad that I do. Even though he has a sister that will be going into the 8th Grade, I would not feel that it would be appropriate for him to "hang out" with any of them...I'm apparently right. I am so happy to hear that you've realized that God is bigger than any issue you may have and loves you unconditionally. My father was an alcoholic for over 20 and out of rehab...he has been "dry" for almost 9 years now and credits Jesus with being the difference.

Encouraging song by THE MARTINS: Dream Big

I believe that anything is possible
if we understand who Jesus is
I believe there's nothing that can stop us
if we learn to dream like Jesus did
So don't limit your ambition
to what's commonly defined
God has a special heart
for those who walk outside the line
Don't be afraid to spread your wings and fly
It doesn't hurt to try
If you're gonna dream...

Dream big
It's the Lord's desire for you to
Dream big
In everything you say and do
You'll see your greatest dream come true
'Cause all of Heaven is dreaming big
for you

I believe that we can make a difference
If we fall down on our knees and pray
Long ago just twelve men turned this world around
And we can do the same today
So let your imagination run as far as you can see
And dream along with God of every-
thing that you can be
Don't be afraid to spread your wings and fly
It doesn't hurt to try
If your gonna dream...

Oh, I love the word impossible
'cause that's what God does best
So just reach for the improbable
and He will do the rest
If you're gonna dream...

Heaven's dreaming big for you
Your greatest dreams come true

So while my name appears on every menu, it is actually pronounced as if the "g" was a "j", kind of like Burgess, but with an r.  Funny thing is I work with a woman whose last name is Fries - pronounced "freeze" - we make a great team.  Now, if we can only find someone with the last name of Shake!

After hearing Jimmy's story on KLOVE, I wanted to comment.  I too struggle with pornography.  I say struggle, because even after years of being free of pornography, it's a daily battle.  The desire is still there.  The curiosity is still there.  The images are still there.

Make no mistake--breaking such a habit isn't easy.  Pornography is nothing less than a satanic attempt to degrade something that God created to be honorable.  Understanding pornography in this light helped me to "hate what is bad."--Psalm 97:10.

I pray about the matter like David did the Lord. (Psalm 119:37)  God wants you to succeed, and he can give you the strength to do what is right!--Philipians 4:13.

Jimmy said it helps to talk to someone.  This is oh so true. (Psalm 17:17)

Be assured that you can succeed in your fight to steer clear of pornography.  In fact, each time you avoid it, you have won a significant victory.  Tell God about that victory, and thank him for the strength he has given you.  Always remember that by avoiding pornography, you make God's heart rejoice!--Proverbs 27:11.

My maiden name is Lovelady. Tho I had my share of teasing, my two brothers had equal amounts of teasing. I wouldn't change it for anything. No matter what our names, kids will find something to tease. It's all trial and tribulations in which we gain our knowledge and strength in our walk with Jesus.

To Frank:

Although I can't imagine how hard your struggle is, I would like to share with you my point of view on "struggling" (in all things).  I hope it is helpful to you and anyone else who is struggling in any way.

The way I have began to view struggle is this:  We are struggling because we have chosen to walk with Jesus instead of hanging out with the devil.  (Yes, I know, that makes it sound so much easier to hang with the devil... but then again, isn't it???)  I see this struggle as a positive thing.  It is affirmation that you are winning whatever battle it is you are fighting!  If you weren't winning, you wouldn't be struggling, because the devil wouldn't be fighting so hard to get you back.  Your struggle is the devil's attempts to break you, tempt you, weaken you... in the hopes that you will slip up, and slide back into old habits so that he can claim you once more.  For me it makes my relationship with Christ not only spiritual, but tangible!  Struggle is the tangible evidence that you belong to God.  After all, the devil even tried to tempt Christ. (Matthew 4:1-11)  God bless, and remember that you belong to God and even though the devil wants you, it is up to YOU whether or not he can have you!

I have also struggled with pornography for the past 10 years---i used to count the days that i would be "free" of it. The problem though was trying to solve it by myself, i was to ashamed to tell anyone. And i would feel so guilty when i would ask God for forgiveness over and over again. I felt that there was something wrong with me and that i would always be addicted. It is indeed a daily battle, especially with today's society and being constantly surrounded by sexual innuendo. I believed that i was not worthy of God or his love....I was suppose to be a believer and a follower of christ but yet i suffered daily with the demon called pornography. I have now reached out to my family and told them my issues and they have given me nothing but love and support, and i'm slowly regaining control of my life and letting God be apart of it. I just hope that people will be more aware that it is not just men who can suffer from this problem, but women as well. Through God anything is possible, and i have faith that one day i will be completely free!

If that where true then why do so ashamed, and so guilty after when i ask God for forgiveness i to felt that something was wrong with me. I know now that i am going to conquer this demon called pornography. I'm slowly going to regain control of my life and letting God be apart of it.
