There are two traditions my family enjoys during the Easter season. The first is sharing a traditional Passover Seder meal with some dear friends.  We find that this not only prepares our hearts for Easter, but also is fun to eat different foods such as, lamb, matzo ball soup and charoseth. The second tradition that we have is baking Easter egg bread.  3-4 of our 5 kids join me in the kitchen to create this treat.  This takes the better part of Saturday afternoon to mix, knead, dye the raw eggs, then carefully braid the dough into a ring with the eggs tucked into the braid.  The next day it makes a lovely centerpiece that is enjoyed with our Easter meal.

Hi, I’m 18 and I have an older sister who is 20 and brother who is 16. On Saturday, my dad gets the video camera out and my mom gets the egg s and dye ready while my sister, brother and I lay out old newspaper on the floor where we sit and dye the eggs.  Before we go to bed, we make Tomb cookies (cookies that have to do with the Easter story.)  We mix the ingredients as we read bible verses.  It is so fun and I love it. Then on Sunday we hunt the eggs and get the cookies out.  If prepared correctly, the cookies are empty in the middle!  We go to church and have a big lunch after the service and hide eggs for the little kids. I love it and thank God he has blest me with a loving family and an amazing church.

Easter is my favorite Holiday. My most memorable Easter was spent watching the sun come up Easter morning from a hot air balloon floating over the outback of Australia.

But more importantly and wonderfully, I try to comprehend:

what He went through that Passover Week in Jerusalem,

The Cross,

That He actually CHOSE to Do That because of a Love that I also cannot comprehend,

AND THEN the fact that He Rose and is Still ALIVE and STILL LOVING us....

Thank you for your ministry... I just heard Oma's story... what a testimony for the parents and for Oma. How faithful is our God - There are no words.

Love to all of you, the amazing kind,

Our church has an extra cross set up by the altar throughout Lent, about 4 feet tall.  All through Lent it is a plain wood cross.  On Easter Sunday morning, the cross is turned around and the back is covered with wire mesh.  All the children come down the aisle to the cross and fill it with flowers.  It is a beautiful symbol, plus the enjoyment of seeing all the children in their Easter finery.

This Easter is different than any other because my cousin is in the hospital recovering from brain injuries caused from a car accident. As Easter approaches, I am filled with childhood memories of her and laughing and talking as we played "the lion king" on Sega Genesis.

Since I was a kid we have always had these colorful baskets and very little candy but for a reason. But one thing has always stood out we would get excited about having a Easter Tree up. It would be full of brightly colored eggs (Plastic) decorated from head to toe. The tree would be a small bright pink color and there would be plastic rabbits and all of these different colors plus lights every ware on it! That was fun! All of us are grown but she still brings out the Easter Tree an we all go over and decorate it!

Easter was always a family time. We usually had dinner at my grandparents farm. The memory of how close and loving our family was always warms my heart.

Easter is often a time of unsettled weather in Wyoming. Today as I was napping before coming to work the night shift at the hospital in Cheyenne, WY, I woke to the sound of ice/snow/rain pelting the side of my house. A short time later I woke to the sound of thunder rolling from Cheyenne on over to western Nebraska. I had to get up and check this out...the ground was white with snow and there was a virtual blizzard happening at that moment. It continued to thunder and snow all afternoon! THUNDERSNOW!

LOL...so we have an egg fight! It sounds kind of funny but we use hard boiled eggs & decorate them & then you hold the egg and another person uses there egg & tried to break your egg. The last person who doesn't have both sides of their egg broken is the winner! A running tradtion in my family since before I was born! Smile

every Good Friday my two daughters and i would make resurrection cookies (basically made out of meringue) they don't have to be cooked  but we would place them in the oven and tape the door shut.  We unseal the oven on Easter morning and the cookies will have risen and the inside automatically hollows out.  We cut one open and they look like the empty tomb.  One morning my daughter, Paige, was trying to fit her lips inside the cookie and I asked her what she was doing - she replied "Jesus is out with his new life and he breaths life into me so I'm just trying to suck out all the new life  that he left me there, do you think there will be enough for my dolly too?"  haha, precious times
