The vinegar thing... it is the Ph level of the vinegar that helps to neutralize the pain of the burn. It will also make your hair very shiny if you rinse your hair with it, mix with water 50/50 and don't rinse out... the smell does not linger. If you like to play with hair color, and sort of really mess up your hair and it starts breaking... dump cider vinegar on it, it will stop the breakage IMMEDIATELY! (I was a hairsylist for 25 years, and color was one of my interests!)

I have the solution for getting water out of your ear after swimming. If you don't have success with Swim Ear (Isopropyl Alcohol) it could be that you have some wax that is holding the water in. Go buy an ear candle. You can get them at the GNC stores or health stores. Basically, it sucks the wax and crud out of your ear. The water comes out too! It's an incredible way to clean your ears! It might seem a little intimidating. You light the end of the ear candle and let it burn. It's amazing!

Corn Starch is wonderful for diaper rash and heat rash for all ages.  I've used it for years and it definitely works, and it's inexpensive!

Arm & Hammer Baking Soda is also good for lots of various things, besides cooking.  Check out the box or website for uses.

Gold Bond medicated anti-itch cream cured one of my worst toothaches almost instantly.  The first application didn't seem to have any effect, but then I rubbed it into the gums and brushed with it, and it worked perfectly within about a minute, and the pain didn't come back.  I found it in a blog on the Internet while experiencing a horrible toothache on a weekend when the dentist's offices were closed.  Oh - it's labeled for external use only, and tastes like Listerine, so rinse thoroughly!

My husband is a doctor and has recommended the meat tenderizer paste for years for bee and wasp stings.  The meat tenderizer breaks down the proteins that cause the reaction to the bee or wasp stings. You make a thick paste, using water, cover the sting liberally, and rub vigorously for 10 minutes. We keep a bottle in our car as well as at home.  If you get stuck with no water, use saliva to mix it with.  Also, the honey used for wounds should be raw honey.  It is sterile.

I don't know if it's an official "treatment", but for me, chlorine helps gets rid of regular warts. The longer you're in it, the better. If you're swimming on and off during the day, the wart should reduce; if you're in the water all day (such as if you're at a water park), it may come off entirely.

Once again this is just what I've experience during regular swimming a couple hours on and off vs. all day at a water park. It may be the chlorine or it could be the water (soaking it water does help). But I just thought I'd throw it out there!

When we had an ear ache my mom would heat olive oil in the microwave and pour it in our ears then stuff cotton in it.   It really did help.  I wish I could do it on my own now that I live on my own. But mom had the special touch.

When I was nursing my third child I became very ill with Mastitis.  MY mom had a "special cure" of Apple cider vinegar and peppermint tea. She made me drink a cup of it every hour. Her special cure did help with the mastitis but also because of my acidic system, it made me break out with cold sores all over my mouth. My lips swelled to 3x the size I had blisters all over my mouth. I looked awful. You know it's bad when the Dr. walks in and with a surprised look on his face says "what happened to you?" It"s become a joke between me and my mom about her "Special cure" Smile In her eyes Apple cider vinegar Cures lots of stuff. Helps with weight loss too. I personally will never touch the stuff again.

I was listening to KLOVE on the way home from work yesterday & I have a few additions for your 'home remedy' edition.  (1) Banana peels are great for putting around your roses.  The potassium from the banana peels helps the blooms on the roses produce a more beautiful rose...REALLY...it does work...this was something I learned (among others) from my grandmother....
(2) a POSITIVE cure for hiccups is a teaspoon of peanut butter...It really works because when my daughter was very young she would get hiccups a lot & she loved peanut butter, so I would give her a teaspoon of peanut butter & instantly they were gone...and even today she still uses this remedy & even though I'll be 55 in a few weeks & still use this remedy when I get the hiccups (which is very rare)...hopes these remedies help some of your listeners.........
GOD BLESS...........(:>)...Arlene Rogers

Ok Sasha, in answer to the question on how banana peels work on warts, this is what I did...cut a slice of banana peel slightly bigger than your wart, then cut some duct tape (yes duct tape)bigger than the peel.  place the banana peel (inside of peel) on your wart, then place the duct tape on top to seal the banana peel in.  THEN, you need to reinforce the  "bandage" with medical tape so it will stay on there.  Do this at night, and wear for 24 hrs, then you need to change the peel and duct tape again.  Repeat this for 5-7 days or however long it takes for the wart to turn dark. Yes you need to have in on ALL the time until it turns dark, but remember to change every 24 hrs.  As soon as your wart becomes dark, you may stop the treatment and in a few weeks they should fall right off.  Very painless!  It is time consuming but it worked for me. Hope this helps.

You said your Mom sprayed vinegar on you for your sunburn. Lucky you! My Mom stripped us down to our skives, stood us in the bathtub, poured vinegar into her hand and "rubbed" it everywhere we were burned. I can't recall which hurt worse; the sunburn or the vinegar rub. Mom would also treat our ear aches with Sweet Oil. She'd pour some into our ear followed by a piece of cotton.

Not sure that this is a summer ailment but I do have a "cure" for pink eye.  I only learned of this cure after having 3 prescriptions for pink eye at $20.00 a pop.  Believe me, this is cheaper and works overnight.

Get a fresh tomato.  Slice the tomato and squeeze the clear liquid onto a cotton ball. You don't want the red juice, just clear juice.  (If you have ever seen a glass jar of canned tomatoes, their is usually clear liquid at the top.) Place the cotton ball with the juice on it directly on your eyeball.  I know it sounds like it will burn but it does not.  It feels very refreshing.  In the morning, pink eye will be gone.  Wish I would have known this before I spent $60 for eye drops!

I had pink-eye over the time of a home & garden show and I really wanted to go. (We had a booth and I like helping run it)So I went online and tried everything you can imagine. Tea bags, lemon juice, ect.
When I woke up in the morning my eye was swollen shut...I put tea bags on it again and then I left a cold washcloth on it for the rest 2 hours. The swelling went done a lot! And the wash cloth soothes the eye!
