LOCAL Closer Look: Children At Risk (Texas)

Posted on Sunday, August 1, 2021 by Monika Kelly

Dr. Bob Carlson, President and CEO of Children at Risk talks about the organization's commitment to use data to change statewide policy for impoverished children living in Texas. Children at Risk has been able to successful advocate for free school breakfasts for over a million children, as well as advocate for pre-K education for children who are underserved. The idea is to create a level playing field for all children in Texas. They also advocate for "New American" children, whether they are undocumented, or have immigrant parents as well as for Dreamers. Children at Risk helps children who have been trafficked and also comes alongside families to help them navigate the educational system.
