How many times have you heard the word amazing? "He's so amazing." "She is so amazing." "My child has done some amazing things." "Wow, this gift is so amazing." That word is used so much today. The Bible uses the word amazing, but I think it's on a whole different level.
Our Verse of the Day today is Psalm 126:3. The Bible says, "Yes, the Lord has done amazing things for us! What joy!" The amazing things that God has done are so out of this world in comparison to what we've done and what we do.
A Beautiful Reminder
This verse is a beautiful reminder that we can pause and reflect on the incredible things, the amazing things that God has done. In this verse, the people of Israel were remembering all the great things that He had done—that He had provided for them, made a way out of slavery, that He had granted them this incredible promised land, all of His provisions all along the way. When they looked at all that He had done and reflected on who He is, they said He is amazing. They had a gratitude that went beyond.
Amazing Things to Reflect On
What are some of the amazing things that you and I can reflect on? God has made us in His image. God has given us talents and abilities. He's given us an intellect. He's given us gifts. He's given us interests. God has created things like color and sound for our life. He didn't have to do that, but He did because He's amazing.
One of the most amazing things God has done is He's given His Son, Jesus, who died on the cross for our sins so that we can have a relationship with Him. That He paid the price for every single one of us, if we would just trust Him in our life as Lord and Savior. God has done something even more amazing—He's prepared a place for us that we could be with Him forever, through all eternity.
Beyond This World
I think we can agree that God's amazing work is out of this world. In the rush of everyday life, it's easy to focus on things that we don't have, those things that we need, things that we want, or what's even next in life. If we slow down and take time to reflect on and celebrate what God has done for us, what He is doing for us, and what He will do for us, I think we'll discover just how amazing God really is.
He has promises for us that He has already kept, and He has promises for us that He will keep. Amazing is not such a bad word when we understand that God's amazing work is way beyond anything that anyone on earth can do.
What great things has God done for you? If we'll stop, take a moment and reflect on those things, then it'll bring the joy and gratitude in our life that we need for each and every day, and that will fill you with joy.
Yes, the Lord has truly done some amazing things for us. What joy we have!
