Community Job Fair

West Haven Baptist Church, located at 1000 West St, Tonganoxie, Kansas will offer its third community job fair, on Thursday, April 24, 2025. It is open to anyone from the community looking for work. The job fair is part of a national movement, facilitated through the nonprofit organization Better Together, of churches offering unique job fair experiences which are focused on making the job searching experience more relational and empowering. This is a great opportunity for you to advance in your career or if you are looking for a job, this is the place to come. If you preregister and show up that day, you will be eligible for one of three $100 Brothers Market gift cards, said Mike Bronson, pastor of West Haven Baptist Church. West Haven Baptist Church will open its doors from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 24th, and welcome anyone from the community to come find work. Some of the employers present will be open to hiring job seekers with a prior conviction or who otherwise face barriers to employment. The industries represented will include manufacturing, construction, warehouse, health, financial, delivery, local government, and education. The fair will feature local businesses hiring now, community resources sharing about services, and volunteers from the church offering one-on-one job coaching and moral support. Several of the confirmed employer partners include: FedEx, Geiger Ready Mix, First State Bank, EVERGY, and Tonganoxie School District 464. There will be 22 employers represented at this event. In addition, job seekers attending will have access to resources and services to help them find work and meet needs their family may have beyond employment. The resource partners attending the event include: Catholic Charities, Workforce Partnership, Goodwill, a resume help service, and two womens support centers. Free haircuts will also be available. The West Haven job fair hosted in 2024 was attended by 57 job seekers. Fifty-one of those job seekers submitted an application, 23 received one or more scheduled interviews, and 13 received a job offer at the fair.
