The prayer of Nehemiah comes during a difficult time in Israel’s history when the city walls of Jerusalem need to be rebuilt. Nehemiah’s prayer is often talked about in terms of the mission he was about to boldly embrace, but it also provides an incredible model for how we should approach God in prayer.
Day Two || The Power of Living and Praying Together
In Matthew 18, Jesus is teaching His followers how to be part of His new Kingdom. While most of this chapter isn’t specifically referencing prayer, Jesus is giving clear instructions on the importance of living together as a church community and the close relationship between what we do here and the advancement of His Kingdom.
Day Three || A Prayer to Change Our Hearts
I’m so happy the disciples asked the question, “How should we pray?” Jesus’s response to them is probably the most powerful teaching on prayer in the entire Bible. This passage of instruction happens twice in the Gospels, here in Luke and earlier in Matthew 6:9–13.
Day Four || Pray With Boldness
I was stopped in my tracks by this beautiful verse that tells us how prayers literally shook the building where these early Christians worshiped. Can you imagine being at a gathering and having walls shake from the power of your prayer?
Day Five || Prayer Brings Freedom to the Soul
By this point in the book of Acts, God is excellent at breaking people out of prison! First Peter and now Paul and Silas are miraculously released from prison. As many of the other apostles in the early church we have studied, they find themselves in a tough and seemingly impossible situation.
