Do you ever get tired of confessing the same sin over and over? You think, "I don't even know if I should go to the Lord again because He's heard me come to Him about the same addiction, same struggle." Maybe it's doubt. Maybe it's anxiety. Maybe it's a porn struggle where you say, "God, I'm so embarrassed that I'm coming to You about the same issue."
If that's you, I want you to stay encouraged when you read this text. Psalm chapter 86 and verse 5 says, "O Lord, You are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for Your help."
David's Example
This is David writing, and what I love about David is he's so raw and honest if you read the Psalms. Some of us know David as that man that's after God's own heart. David has a past. If there's anybody that really messed up, it was David.
What I love about David, and I believe this is why he was a man after God's own heart, is because when he messed up, he wouldn't run from the Lord. He would run straight to the Lord. I think one of the signs that we understand the love of God is by how we respond when we fail. Do we run from the Lord or do we run to Him?
God's Grace is Available Daily
God's grace for us is available every single day. Not only that, He freely gives us His grace. Lamentations chapter 3 and verse 22 tells us this: His mercies are new every single morning. No matter what kind of past you have, or no matter how many times you've messed up, the invitation today is this: "Come to Me." I always try to remind myself of that. "Val, keep going to the Lord."
Our Heavenly Father's Unfailing Love
Maybe you're watching and you're like, "But I've had a father who I didn't trust. He wasn't patient with me." Your earthly father maybe gave you some father wounds. That's tough because it affects how we approach God. I want to encourage you with this truth: our heavenly Father is not like our earthly father.
Notice what David says. He says He's so full of unfailing love for all who ask for His help. When we run to the Lord, we can be sure of this: God will receive us, and God will extend His grace to us. Will you run to the Lord today and receive the grace that He freely gives?
