LOCAL Closer Look: Central City, KY Tourism - Central City, KY

Posted on Sunday, August 10, 2025 by Jim Davis

Jim Davis speaks with Dr. Freddie Mayes, Executive Director of Central City, KY Tourism. The city operates 2 different museums housed in a former Ford dealership. The Muhlenberg County Music Museum highlights music artists who have ties to Central City and Muhlenberg County. Mayes says the museum started after items were donated by the Everly Brothers and their relatives. The Museum also honors musician John Prine and others. The Kentucky Motorsports Hall of Fame and Museum occupies the service area of the former Ford dealership and features race cars and memorabilia. Mayes says Central City hopes to continue to find ways to draw more visitors from around the world as well as new businesses to call Central City home. (www.cityofcentralcityky.com)
