Jason Craig speaks with April Stewart, Founder of Gulf Coast Primate Sanctuary in Perkinston, MS. Their mission is to provide permanent, lifetime care for New World monkeys in need. Stewart shares their goal of bringing peace and joy to visitors while advocating for the well-being of the primates. Daily care is provided by specialized veterinarians, medical staff, trained caregivers, and volunteers - many of whom are also healing from trauma. Stewart explains how, over time, the primates and guests begin teaching each other how to trust again. An Air Force veteran, Stewart founded the sanctuary through her own healing.
