Jack Church spoke with Michael McKee, chief executive officer for the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. This food bank serves 25 counties and 8 cities either side of the Blue Ridge with distribution centers in Charlottesville, Lynchburg, Winchester and Verona. McKee said the demand for food has risen to record levels with over 140 thousand people in the region now receiving food from the food bank. The USDA has cut supplies by as much as fifty percent but so far thanks to other sources the food bank is keeping up with demand.
