Sarah Shaver spoke with Sara’s Garden Executive Director Matthew Rychener and some of his staff about the therapy, education and training offerings at this one-of-a-kind medical clinic and school. Mr. Rychener began with a short history of Sara’s Garden, from beginning with treatment and education for small children with cerebral palsy to now treating children and adults of all ages with just about every condition imaginable. They offer hyperbaric oxygen therapies, conductive education, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and autism services. Many of the people they treat have conditions not covered by any insurance so they help their client families raise funds to pay for the treatment. They are the only facility in North America that offers all the services they have at one facility, with two campuses – Wauseon, Ohio and also in the Toledo area. They also have New Horizons Academy for children with special needs that has holistic education that meets the child where they are, not mold them to meet a program’s needs.
