Posted on Sunday, May 7, 2023 by Jack Church

Jack Church spoke with Deb Roepke, Executive Director for the Alexandria Virginia Seaport Foundation. The foundation focuses on at risk young people between the ages of 17 and 24 providing an apprenticeship in woodworking and boat building. Roepke said the program is limited to around a dozen young people per session which can take from 6 to 12 months depending on the individual. The program aims to help young people at risk develop life skills and complete their education to help achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle both in work as well as their personal lives.
