Have you had a time that there was a song stuck in your head and you just could not shake it? It could be from your favorite era. It could be your favorite type of music, but you just could not get it out of your head. All throughout the day, you found yourself singing the song, dancing to it, maybe, and then all of a sudden it gets to the point where it's like, enough, I've got to get something else in my head because you can't shake the song.

We've got a great Verse of the Day today that's found in Psalm chapter 119 that's just a reflection of something like that. And this is what the verse says in Psalm chapter 119 and verse 11. It says, "I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." Imagine if we had the Word of God stuck in our head to that degree, where we just couldn't shake this thing that we learned in the Bible or this verse. Where we just kept coming back to it. That's what I love about the concept of this verse, it’s hiding God's Word in our heart.

What Do You Keep Accessible?

I would encourage you, when we talk about this verse in the context of it and just living it out, I would ask you to either think about or look around you. If you're in your home, or in your office or your car, what do you store up? What do you stock up? What do you keep accessible wherever you're keeping it or storing it? What do you keep the most quantity of and keep it easily accessible?

Typically it's the thing that you use the most in your life, right? Whatever you use in your car, whatever you use in your office, whatever you use in your home, whatever you use the most, you want to keep it accessible and you want to keep it stored up and stocked up so it's easily available. Imagine if we treated God's Word that way, where it was so important to you that you wanted to use it in every facet of your life, that you kept it easily accessible at all times. You kept it stored up. You got plenty of stock of it so that it's accessible to you no matter what you're going through. You know what God's Word says about it, and you have it easily accessible in your mind and heart. That would truly be living out this verse, that you've hidden God's Word in your heart.

Learning What Pleases God

Let's turn to the second part of this verse. It's not the most enjoyable part of the verse, but it says "that I might not sin against you." Typically when we think of sinning against God, we think of the list of commands in this mountainous list of expectations of do's and don'ts. We tend to religify the whole experience of not sinning against God. Let's look at it a little bit more practically.

When you first start dating somebody, you just really are interested in this person, or when you get married. You start developing a list. Could be mentally, could be physically. You develop a list of what the person that you care about, that you love, what they don't like and what they do like. You know very well what they love to eat, the kind of clothes they have or that they enjoy wearing, the different things that they enjoy. You also know and they also know what you like and don't like, and you know what they like and don't like. It's part of the experience as part of the relationship. It comes naturally.

That's why if we actually make this verse practical to what we currently experience, attempt to do in every relationship that we care about, we want to learn what pleases God. We want to learn what hurts His heart. We want to learn what He doesn't like. That's the importance of when we focus on the relationship we have with God. We know what He doesn't like based on His Word. It now starts allowing us to have our life conform to it because we desire to please Him and we learn what He does like. That starts to impact the way we live our lives, in the way He is able to lead us through the day through His Word.

I would encourage you find ways to stock up and allow God's Word to be easily accessible in your life, to use it to guide your life every single day.
