God’s presence is sometimes realized when one least expects it. Just ask Jordan Feliz.
The singer-songwriter has experienced God’s presence at seemingly unexpected times – like when a stranger rolled down his car window one day and offered a life-changing gift. But moments like those have led Feliz to place his complete trust and faith in the Lord.
Born and raised in California, Feliz first felt called by God through music after leading a worship service. And although he admits he was nervous – and a bit scared – to do so, he found his calling.
“I grew up kind of wanting to play drums, but my parents were like, ‘No, it's way too loud,’” Feliz laughed. “So, I ended up playing piano and kind of got forced into leading worship one Sunday morning. But I had a youth pastor that kind of spoke over me and just said that he felt like I had to calling in my life for it. When I left that worship event, I literally had my first experience where I felt like God spoke to me. I was driving down the highway in my hometown … and I just felt like God said, ‘This is what I have for you.’”
Feliz accepted that offer, and from that moment, he’s pursued music with his whole heart. Before long, Feliz, now newly married, realized he and his wife were being called to Nashville, Tennessee. Prayer confirmed those convictions, and soon the young couple was off to Music City, U.S.A., with the Lord leading the way.
“After we moved to Nashville, there were just little moments where God would just kind of show off and would just continually remind me that I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be.”
But before a record deal ever came, Feliz had to find other ways to collect a paycheck. Valeting cars was one option, but a few months into their move to Nashville, they found themselves barely making ends meet.
The “Next To Me” singer recalls he was about to be $500 short of making rent payment, and he wasn’t sure where the money would come from – or how. But, once more, God had a plan.

“There was this guy, and I'd parked his car before, and he comes back out, I hand him his keys, he says, ‘Thank you,’ he handed me five bucks and he pulled his car forward,” Feliz said. “And then he just stopped, and he sat there for a minute, but I went over, and I knocked on the window. And as the window rolled down … [he had an envelope] with my name written on it. And he looked at me and goes, ‘Hey, are you a believer by chance?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, 100 percent!’ He goes, ‘Man, you'll never believe this, but I'm sitting in my car, and the reason why I'm sitting here, but when I handed you that $5, I felt like God told me that you needed this. So here you go.’
“And I opened it up and the dude wrote me a check for $500. It was so crazy that I literally cried. I took like five minutes and just cried.”
Not only did God tell – and show – Feliz what he was supposed to do and where he was supposed to go, but He made sure Feliz would find his way, too.
Four studio albums later, Feliz knows he’s exactly where he’s supposed to be – and he knows exactly who deserves the glory.
“The kindness of God has just been incredible, and it's shown me and my wife and my family that we can trust Him with everything,” Feliz said. “Here's all of us. Here's our family. Here's our parenting. Here's our marriage, here's our finances, here's everything. Our home, it's Yours. Do what You will, just let us just be a part of it. We want You to be at the helm.
“It's been such an honor just to be a part of this industry in this community and to watch God do his thing in it.”
