Ron Turner talks with Lou Martin, Director of Christian Psychological Center. Martin discusses how the number of people experiencing signs of depression and anxiety in the Memphis area is higher other cities in the state and greater than the national average. Martin identifies high crime and poverty being a contributor to these statistics. Martin talks about offering support to those in the community by creating not only awareness, but connection and support for those who are struggling. Martin explains how trauma will have devastating long-term effects on everyone, especially children ranging from disassociation and depression to anger and anxiety. Martin introduces the Memphis Resilliance program with a focus on helping to alleviate the effects of childhood trauma. Martin explains there is a wide array of mental illness treatments available through the Christian Psychological Center. They can be contacted at (https://www.cpcmemphis.net)
