Ron Turner talks with Jeff Box, Sheriff at Dyer County Sherrif’s Department. Box discusses how the drug problems within communities have changed over time and how the methods of finding and arresting perpetrators have had to change with the times as well. Box talks about the progression of drugs and their uses have developed over the years, but it still boils down to addiction. Box explains how drug usage leads to higher crime rates. Realizing there were few resources available to help those incarcerated, Box decided to create a 30 bed Work Facility that has helped individuals guilty of drug crimes, turn their lives around. Box explains how the success of the program has caused it to grow into a 52 bed facility helping treat more men with their addiction to re-enter society as productive citizens and not repeat their crimes.
