Peter Kaye speaks with Craig Lukatch of Lacawac Sanctuary about their mission of research, education and preservation. Lukatch discusses research done at Lake Lacawac, the southernmost glacial lake in the hemisphere and how that knowledge helps other environmental stewards be better care takers of their own lakes. He also discusses how Lacawac Sanctuary cones to local schools partnering with their teachers with the goal of eventually bringing the students to the Sanctuary for a more hands on learning experience. Lukatch happily invites locals and out of towners to visit the Sanctuary to enjoy nature while hiking over nine miles of trails.
