She explains why stray animals and animal overpopulation can pose a Public Health and Public Safety risk to a community. Burks provides practical advice about how being a “Responsible Pet Owner” may help to mitigate the challenges that the community faces. Burks also shares practical tips for families to consider before getting a pet. She addresses public misconceptions’ regarding dog breeds deemed to be aggressive, such as Pit Bulls.
