LOCAL Closer Look: Rescuing Food through Waste Not AZ

Posted on Sunday, September 12, 2021 by Dan Beck

Dan Beck talks with Hillary Bryant, Community Engagement Manager for Waste Not AZ. Waste Not rescues prepared food from restaurants, bakeries, caterers and other clients, and immediately takes it to senior centers, shelters and food distribution centers for people to eat right away. They are also developing a new program to help local ranchers bring foods to their livestock that cannot be eaten by people, but is still good for farm animals. They are helping to keep tons of food from being wasted and put into the landfills. Their biggest annual event to raise awareness and funds is called Empty Bowls, and is held in October.
