LOCAL Closer Look: Salvation Army of Winston-Salem

Posted on Sunday, February 28, 2021 by Bob Dittman

Bob Dittman spoke with Major Andrew Wiley of the Salvation Army of Winston-Salem on their programs to help those in need and how they have responded to COVID in keeping their programs running. The Salvation Army has continued to feed those in need, housed families and provided services to both children and seniors through the pandemic. In particular, their Boy’s and Girl’s Club has morphed into a remote learning center, and according to Major Wiley, has done so quite successfully for at risk children. Their food programs continue to serve the most needy and their senior center programs have actually grown during the pandemic, expanding to more classes to keep seniors educated and moving during these times when social distancing is required.
