Lexy Smith speaks with Annette Smiley, the Director of Seattle’s Union Gospel Missions Women’s, and Children’s Emergency Shelter. The Seattle Union Gospel Mission began over ninety years ago as a soup kitchen. Smiley details her journey coming full circle from a client to director of the nonprofit. Smiley describes the different programs and shelters available including a long-term treatment program. Smiley explains how this emergency shelter opened in 2024 since they were regularly turning away those in need.
