Monika Kelly spoke to CEO and Founder of the Elijah Network Family Network and Community Alliance, Kate Flanigan WItte, about the work they're doing in the South Miami-Dade County area with substance abuse prevention. They educate children and families about the dangers of drugs, cigarettes and alcohol and work to eliminate visible signs of enticement in the community: moving alcohol away from the bread in places like CVS, changing the displays of flavored vapes so that they're not near the candy isle, educating parents, children, caregivers, doctors and the community about the dangers of unused, extra prescription painkillers in the medicine cabinet. They're making big changes in the county.
