Rafael Sierra talks with Tom Bagamane, Founder, Chairman & CEO of The Giving Spirit, which serves the City of Los Angeles and Los Angeles County by providing sustenance and survival assistance to those who are experiencing homelessness. It also provides education and community awareness for poverty and its impact on the most vulnerable. Bagamane states homelessness has increased as much as 30% in Los Angeles since the beginning of the pandemic. He talks about the type of assistance they provide including delivering survival kits to the poorest of the poor where they live, information on where people who are homeless can get medical assistance, shelter or permanent and supportive housing, food assistance, self-care items and personal support. Bagamane says The Giving Spirit helps those in need take that ‘first step’ that could potentially help them get off the streets.
