Jack Church spoke with Laura Sheriff, Foster Parent Coordinator with Embrace Treatment Foster Care which serves the entire state of Virginia. At any give day over 5 thousand children across the state of Virginia are in foster care. Sheriff said the state is in crisis level as the number of children needing a foster home is far greater than the number of families willing to become foster families. Sheriff explained that Embrace is there to help place children in foster homes while also supporting the families thru several programs to make the process smooth. Sheriff said from time of application to actual placement of children in a home is around 90 days provided.
