Due to COVID-19, people around the world are searching for answers to some of life’s toughest questions regarding God, but reaching them with information and answers requires new tools and strategies. This month, hundreds of Christian technologists, developers, programmers, creatives, missionaries, and students will gather in more than 60 locations worldwide for #HACK2020––a collaborative event to create digital solutions for overcoming the barriers and isolation created by COVID-19. Additionally, participants will develop websites, apps, and other virtual programs to solve pressing social issues in communities.

Run by Indigitous, a global movement energized by Cru, the fifth annual #HACK event will be held virtually on Oct. 9-11 and 16-18. Since the Indigitous #HACK event debuted in 2016, some 3,200 participants have gathered in 69 different cities worldwide to work on 225 missional projects.

The heart of missions is to go where people are…and where are people? On their phones,” said Simon Seow, co-founder of Indigitous. “As the world continues to change, we need to create fresh and relevant ways to engage with people through technology in order to impact lives.

Previous #Hack projects included the following:

We sense that God is in a movement using technology to bridge global boundaries,” said Simon Seow, a program leader in Singapore.“Indigitous is a community of digitally-focused individuals who are inspired by the Holy Spirit to work on problems that have real-world impact, answering questions like, ‘How do we stand as a bulwark against things like human trafficking and suicide?’”

Individuals interested in the event can learn more or register to participate at indigitous.org/hack. Watch the summary video from the first Indigitous #HACK or see details from the 2019 #HACK in Iloilo, Philippines.
