Key facts:

For many men this unprecedented shelter-at-home in the COVID-19 pandemic has been a strange new world. Besides feeling cooped-up, some have lost their jobs, are struggling with monthly bills, and frustrated with the queue for unemployment benefits. Even the relationship with family members may be frayed due to the artificial confinement of hiding from an ‘enemy’ you can’t even see, a micro-virus.

In talking with Promise Keepers President Vance Day about revised plans for a special major event, we asked him to share some thoughts and encouragement for men feeling stress right now. “Understand the principal that what God allows in His wisdom, He could easily stop with His sovereign power; this COVID thing is not something that surprises Him. And sometimes when something invades our life, like this little teeny virus, He allows it to jolt us out of the grooves that we’re in.

Whether it be financial reversal or loss, physical infirmities, whatever it may be, sometimes that trial that God allows in our lives gives us a whole different perspective. And that’s what James 1, verse 2, is about - that He wants us to consider it ‘all joy’… when we encounter various trials for the testing of our faith, because it really does bring about perseverance and long-suffering that makes us mature, complete – so look at it, men, as an opportunity to trust the Lord.” (see scripture in full further below)

As for Promise Keepers, the planned gathering at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas (DFW Metroplex) will be pushed back to July of next year, 2021. And on the days that it had been scheduled this year, July 31 and August 1, there will be what you might call an ‘online stadium’ with livestreamed special events.

Listen to our podcast interview with President Vance Day to learn the exciting things being planned:

James 1, verses 2-4 (NLT) Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.”
