With pandemic restrictions loosening in the State of Michigan, 2|42 Community Church is challenging volunteers to get out of their homes and go out in their communities and serve. This summer, 2|42 Community Church, based in 7 Michigan locations, will be heading into community areas and neighborhoods to do anything from cleaning toilets to clearing yards to painting.

“Showing God’s love in practical ways has always been part of the mission of 2|42,” says Executive Pastor Kevin Davis. “If our communities aren’t better because of our church, then we are missing the mark.”

2|42 Community Church has organized three large serve events this summer, with many other opportunities in between. The first event was held on Saturday, June 5. Volunteers from each 2|42 Community Church location participated in the first Big Serve.

Ann Arbor: Volunteers completed yard work for local agencies and a senior residence. They also packaged and delivered boxes to assist young adults in the foster care system.

Brighton: Volunteers served multiple area agencies in building projects and cleanup. They also volunteered at a community garden and completed home projects for families.

Lansing: Spring cleanup was completed at a number of local schools and parks. Volunteers also set up for a neighborhood block party, painted at a facility for displaced families, and cleaned public restrooms.

Livonia: An elderly couple received moving help from volunteers, and other volunteers performed much-needed yard work for families.

Monroe: Volunteers cleaned up landscaping and painted at Selah’s Center of Hope maternity home and mentorship center.

SaginawNon-perishable grocery items were collected by volunteers and then donated to Hidden Harvest.

Taylor: Volunteers served at a local organization called Blessed Hope. They organized clothing and food donations, cleaned, helped with landscaping, painted, and helped with small maintenance needs.

The next Big Serve events will be held on July 17 and August 7 from 9 am to noon. You don’t need to attend 2|42 Community Church to participate. Everyone is invited to join and serve.
