‘Books & Badges’ – Officers Use Social Media Reading To Kids Stuck At Home

With so many schools closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, parents are trying to find ways to keep children from getting ‘cabin fever.’ Now, a program that had been catching on with law enforcement for good community relations, suddenly finds new meaning. “Books & Badges” – or local variations on that name – is where police officers take the time to read to kids via social media video. And because officers are also authority figures, it’s possible this assures children that their world is not spinning out of control with the virus outbreak.

Here are some examples of what local law enforcement is doing as ‘cops’ become kids’ friends.
