Officer Bob Stebbins arrived at the Intercoastal Waterway after a panicked call to the Lighthouse Point, Florida, Police Department. He immediately saw the situation. The dog's snout was just above water and it was about to go under. The poor dog's leash was tangled up in dock pilings and it could not escape. The end was near. The dog had been treading water for 25 minutes.
So the officer took off his gear and jumped in the dark water.
The rescue was successful. The plunge was worth it. And the dog's family was overjoyed and thankful.
