Bethel University, in Mishawaka, Ind., is offering free boot camps in the area of cloud computing basics and services. These camps, funded through the LIFT Workforce Accelerator Grant, will help equip Michiana’s information technology (IT) community to understand cloud technology, ultimately preparing them to analyze the different advanced cloud options for companies and move forward toward a career in cloud computing.

“Bethel University is very excited to take our cloud computing expertise and provide it to the greater Michiana area to help grow all of our technical expertise,” says Cathy Bareiss, Ph.D., professor of computer science.

The first phase of camps, Mini Boot Camps, begin on Aug. 31. These courses will introduce computing in the cloud, data science and machine learning in the cloud, and are geared toward people already working in IT, data science or machine learning. Upon completion, students will know enough to engage with simple tasks on the cloud, and understand which cloud aspects would be best for further specialization.

Other specialized cloud-computing training will be offered in three other phases through summer 2023. These phases will equip individuals in IT foundations, Google Cloud certification preparation and studies of the three major cloud services (AWS, Azure and Google).

Fall mini boot camps will be offered every Tuesday night, Aug. 31-Dec. 7, from 6-8:15 p.m. Classes will be repeated during the month of January 2022 and throughout spring 2022.
