Jason Craig speaks with Gerren Benoit, Community Engagement Coordinator of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Acadiana. Their foundational belief is that every child is born with incredible potential, and mentors, called Bigs, help protect that potential. Benoit highlights their community-based, site-based, and High School Bigs mentoring programs. He emphasizes that young people do not need perfect mentors, but present ones, with relationships designed to be impactful and long-lasting. Benoit shares how consistent mentorship can shape a young person’s success and discusses the importance of community support, encouragement, listening, and exposing youth to new possibilities for their future (acadianabigs.com).
